As the sun sets in the evening, so the excitement rises: the Grafenegg season opens in celebratory mood with a star-studded Midsummer Night’s Gala.
The first guest is mezzo soprano Elisabeth Kulman, one of the leading exponents of Austrian opera culture. Her colleague Piotr Beczala began his international career in Austria and meanwhile made a career in many of the famous opera houses all over the world.
Violinist Julia Fischer provides the Midsummer Night’s Gala’s with virtuosic splendour in 2015. An immensely versatile musician at home on all the world’s stages, she was the recipient of the Deutscher Kulturpreis in 2011.
Chief conductor of the Tonkünstler Orchestra is Yutaka Sado, who takes over the post of Andrés Orozco-Estrada in autumn 2015.
