Matthias Pintscher (Composer in Residence 2015) joins the Tonkünstler Orchestra on stage to conduct one of his own works alongside two pieces of the classical repertoire.
Paul Dukas’ famously water-filled «Sorcerer’s Apprentice» is followed by Pintscher’s «Chute d’Etoiles». This expressive orchestral work was premiered in 2012 and is dedicated to the German painter and sculptor Anselm Kiefer. After the interval, the Tonkünstler and Matthias Pintscher explore the heights and depths of Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony which, life-affirming yet serious, provides another compelling portrayal of human emotions.
