«The Creation» oratorio for soloists, choir and orchestra, Hob. XXI:2

Let there be light! To open the new concert season, the Tonkunstler Orchestra and its Music Director Yutaka Sado join the RIAS Chamber Choir and three excellent vocalists to celebrate nothing less than «The Creation» itself. Premiered in 1798 in what was then the Stadtpalais Schwarzenberg in the Neue Markt in Vienna, Joseph Haydn’s German-language oratorio takes as its subject the origin of the world. In the solo parts, angels and archangels comment on the six days of the Creation. Adam and Eve also have their say. In addition, the orchestra paints the chaos, the sunrise and the coming of life to the earth.
