Introduction/abstract

European Union Youth Orchestra • Gheorghiu • Gianandrea Noseda

Verdi • Mahler

The European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) has won over the hearts of Grafenegg audiences with its enthusiasm, charm and great talent. Under the baton of the Italian conductor Gianandrea Noseda, the EUYO performs works by Verdi and Mahler, who recently celebrated their 200th and 150th birthdays.

We regret to announce that due to personal reasons, soprano Diana Damrau and Bass Nicolas Testé are unable to perform. We are delighted to announce that on 29 August internationally-acclaimed soprano Angela Gheorghiu will perform at the Grafenegg Festival with Maestro Noseda and the EUYO. Angela Gheorghiu made her international debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, followed the same year by debuts at the Metropolitan Opera New York and the Wiener Staatsoper. Since then, she has graced many of the stages of the world's opera houses and concert halls, excelling both vocally and dramatically, and is widely recognised by critics and opera lovers as one of the greatest sopranos of all time.
