BEETHOVEN

Beethoven only wrote one opera, but what an opera! A musical plea for freedom and loyalty, his «Fidelio» is a vivid demonstration in sound and image of the need to defend the basic values of human togetherness. At the heart of the outstanding cast for this co-production by the Gstaad Menuhin Festival and the Grafenegg Festival are Jonas Kaufmann as Florestan and Sinéad Campbell-Wallace as Leonore. Jaap van Zweden, since 2018 Music Director of the New York Philharmonic, conducts the orchestra of the renowned Swiss festival at the Wolkenturm.
