Musical Picnic FAQ

Information regarding Musical Picnics

Do you love listening to classical music under the open sky while enjoying a glass of wine? Then the Musical Picnic at Grafenegg is just the thing for you! In the middle of the relaxed surroundings of the castle grounds we've set up an LED wall, on which you can watch and enjoy that day's concert from the Wolkenturm. The Musical Picnic is catered by Toni Mörwald, who has created four different menu packages for tables seating two persons each. You can see an overview of our picnic offer here.

Below you can find answers to many questions about our Musical Picnics - from ticket sales to on-site procedures. Should you not find what you're looking for, feel free to send an email to . Please note that processing times may be longer than usual due to a high number of inquiries.

We kindly ask that you familiarise yourself with the Rules of Conduct before making your visit.

How can I book tickets for a Musical Picnic?

Without exception, tickets can only be ordered through our website. Unfortunately, we are unable to process ticket orders by phone, in person or by email.

Why can I only book two tickets per event?

The safety policy dictates that we perform contact tracing, so that we can pass contact details of our customers to the health authorities at any time. The available tables seat a maximum of two persons.

If you would like to purchase more than two tickets, you are welcome to send an email asking to be placed on the waiting list to tickets[at] after sales have launched. Please provide us with contact details of the person whose name should appear on the waiting list (name, address, telephone number).

Please be sure to inform our ticket office should you pass your tickets on to other persons as we will require their contact addresses.

Why are tickets only available for purchase online?

Contactless purchasing serves to protect our customers and our employees. Out of responsibility to them, we want to avoid situations in which people can come into physical contact.
Online sales are the only way to allow a pre-sales launch that is even and fair for all customers, at the same time and under the same conditions.

This also facilitates the efficient registering of consent to our new terms and conditions and Covid-19 rules of conduct.

From when can I buy tickets?

Sales for the Musical Picnic run parallel to sales for Festival concerts.

From 29 June 2020: Advance sales for current GRAFENEGG-Card holders (N.B.)-19-20 season cards can no longer be purchased).

From 13 July 2020: Purchasers of previous festival concerts

From 27 July 2020: General advance booking

Can I obtain membership to make my purchase?

New members are always welcome under normal circumstances. However, as we are currently faced with numerous restrictions, we have taken the decision not to issue either new memberships or new GRAFENEGG-Cards for the summer season.

Can I use my print@home voucher when purchasing tickets?

Yes, your print@home voucher can also be used to purchase tickets for the Musical Picnic. The code printed on your voucher can be entered directly into the shopping cart. Any remaining balance can be paid by credit card, Klarna or PayPal. If the value of your voucher exceeds that of the tickets purchased, you will automatically receive a voucher for the remaining difference, either by post or via print@home.

How can I register online?

If you have already received an email from us regarding the summer cancellations/alterations, your email address will have automatically been saved in our system. You will either already have a password or will be able to create one on the website during the registration process.
If you have not yet made an online purchase from us, we recommend that you try logging in before sales begin and contacting our ticket office if you encounter any problems.
If you belong to one of the categories 'Grafenegg Festival Patrons', 'GRAFENEGG-Card holders' or 'Ticket purchasers of previous festival concerts', you must log-in using the exact email address linked with that group, as it is only possible to purchase tickets in advance with one of these memberships.

What should I do if I have problems in the web shop?

Have you forgotten your password? You can request a new one when logging in.

Our ticket office will be happy to assist during opening hours on +43 1 586 83 83.

How can I purchase wheelchair places?

Wheelchair places can be requested by email. The same sales start dates apply.

What happens in the case of bad weather?

Unfortunately, there is no alternative in the case of inclement weather. Musical Picnics can also take place in bad weather; they may be postponed, cancelled until shortly before they begin or interrupted at any time after they have started because of weather conditions. Please visit to see if an event has been cancelled or given a new start time. The ticket price will be refunded for Musical Picnics that are cancelled or interrupted during the first half. Please note that from the time of admission (60 minutes before the start of the event) your food and drinks are considered as consumed and so this portion of the ticket price cannot be refunded. You can, however, take your food and drinks home with you.

Guests are advised to bring along warm and weatherproof clothing. Umbrellas are not allowed as they obstruct visibility. In case of rain, ponchos will be available free of charge.

Is there a box office?

There is no regular box office on event days.

Is there a bus transfer service?

There is no bus transfer available from Vienna.

How does the visit to the event proceed?

Entry and admittance begin from 60 minutes before the start of the event, only via Haitzendorf through the Kremser Tor.

The checking of tickets is contactless.

The spacious parking lot will make for a stress-free arrival.

Please remain only on the castle lawn, the location of the Musical Picnic. This is clearly separated from the area for the Wolkenturm concerts.

The event takes place on a lawn. Each ticket is assigned to a designated chair and table, but we recommend bringing along blankets and ensuring you have suitable clothing and shoes.

Please go to your places as soon as you arrive. Your food and drinks will already be awaiting you.

Smoking is not permitted at your table.

There will be no sale of programme booklets.

All events are held without an interval. As soon as the event has started, no later admission can be given.

The area is to be vacated 60 minutes after the end of the event.

What hygiene measures must I observe?

Please always maintain a distance of one metre from persons who are not from your household and avoid crowding, especially at entrances, exits and the bar.

Please observe the current general hygiene regulations such as sneezing etiquette, regular washing or disinfecting of hands etc. Disinfectant dispensers are available on the grounds.

On the day of the event, please consult the latest guidelines regarding the wearing of mouth and nose protection. This information is also available at

- if you are feeling unwell and you cannot preclude a Covid-19 infection

- if you are ill

- if you have had contact with a person who has Covid-19

- if there is illness or reason to suspect illness in your immediate social or professional environment.

We reserve the right to make changes to or relax these measures according to official guidelines.
