RICHARD STRAUSS
«Don Quixote» Fantastic Variations for Cello and Orchestra op. 35
ANTON BRUCKNER
Symphony No. 4 in E-flat major «Romantic»
Master cellist Pablo Ferrández on the heels of Don Quixote.
Tonkunstler Orchestra · Pablo Ferrández · Nikita Gerkusov · Robert Trevino
STRAUSS · BRUCKNER
The knight Don Quixote saddles up the cello for exciting adventures in this programme - not only tilting at windmills. Richard Strauss cast the novel by Miguel de Cervantes in sound with his Sinfonia Concertante «Don Quixote». The solo part is performed by Spanish cellist Pablo Ferrández. The horns are at the centre of Anton Bruckner's Fourth Symphony, giving what is probably the composer's most popular work its «romantic» mood. This concert marks American conductor Robert Trevino's return to the Tonkunstler.
