Mikko Franck and his Paris orchestra serve up two substantial dishes of Russian fare: Tchaikovsky's crowning sixth symphony, the «Pathéthique»; and Shostakovich's dark and mournful Cello Concerto No. 2 featuring master cellist Sol Gabetta, who illuminates the work's shades and ambiguities.
