SERGEJ RACHMANINOV
Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 3 in d minor op. 30
GUSTAV MAHLER
Symphonie No. 1 in D major including «Blumine»
Chopin Competition Prize-winner Kyohei Sorita plays Rachmaninov.
Tonkunstler Orchestra · Kyohei Sorita · Yutaka Sado
RACHMANINOV · MAHLER
As wonderfully light and musically thrilling as the entry into Gustav Mahler's cosmos at the ecstatic end of his First Symphony may seem, the work, which underwent several modifications before reaching its definitive form, had a bumpy start. A discarded movement entitled «Blumine» is now presented for consideration as part of Yutaka Sado's comprehensive exploration of the composer's works. Before that, great emotions are also in store with Sergei Rachmaninov's Third Piano Concerto, performed by the young Japanese pianist Kyohei Sorita, a prize-winner at the 2021 Chopin Competition.
