Introduction/abstract

A listening adventure with young musicians.

Grafenegg Academy Orchestra · Andrej Power · Alina Ibragimova · Colin Currie · Håkan Hardenberger

HAYDN · GRUBER · LIGETI · BARTÓK

The Grafenegg Academy seeks to give young artists new perspectives as they embark on their professional careers. This also benefits the audience, who can witness an intensive and deeply interconnected exploration of different styles and genres. This listening adventure begins with one of Haydn's late symphonies, rich in surprising effects, followed by the Second Violin Concerto by HK Gruber, who celebrates his 80th birthday in 2023. The solo part of his «Nebelsteinmusik», named after a rock formation in the Waldviertel, is performed by the celebrated violinist Alina Ibragimova. In 2023 she augments the Grafenegg Academy's current duo of curators to a trio. After the interval her colleagues Colin Currie and Håkan Hardenberger conduct impressive works by Bartók and Ligeti.
