A breath of fresh air from the podium with Santtu-Matias Rouvali.

Klemperer, Muti, Sinopoli, Dohnányi, Salonen: the list of past Chief Conductors of London's Philharmonia Orchestra is short and impressive. In 2021, Santtu-Matias Rouvali's name was added to it. Together with his compatriot Klaus Mäkelä, he is one of the most promising figures of the young generation of conductors. This guest performance begins with a work that originated in London and was tailor-made for the great Fritz Kreisler: Elgar's voluptuous Violin Concerto, here with the solo part in the hands of the versatile virtuoso Christian Tetzlaff. Within the first few bars of Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony, the Wolkenturm audience will witness how the orchestra and its young chief have become one in heart and soul.
